Ramen Halu

During a recent trip to the Bay Area, I was planning on hitting Santa Ramen in San Mateo.  It’s one of my favorite haunts when I’m in the Bay but it closed so the alternative was a place my aunty had suggested.  It’s a place in San Jose off Saratoga Rd. called Ramen Halu.

After indulging, gotta say…no wonder it averages 4 out of 5 stars on Yelp.  The only downside is that there isn’t any gyoza but hey, the Ramen really made up for it.

I already had a feeling this place was gonna be good because the owner is a transplant from Japan. He came to California to surf and to bring his version of Ramen to the locals.  Funny, everyone I saw in the restaurant were Japanese Nationals, which was another good sign that this place was authentic as it was oishii.

The large tsukemen with extra char siu. Damn it was good. Plus, after you're done, you can add some of that clear broth they give you to the Tsukemen broth to top it off.

My aunty had the shio ramen with extra menma, which she said was good but next time she would get the shoyu ramen after trying my grandpa's.

Gramps had the shoyu ramen which was really tasty. Between the shio and the shoyu broths, this was the winner.
